Who invented the skip?
Going back to my ‘goalkeeping’ roots

As we all come to terms with the getting a “Con-demned” Government, it may have escaped your attention that is about 5 weeks until the start of the World Cup.  It promises to be another month of English hope followed by ultimate dispair - pretty much like the Election then!

On the subject of football it is also the FA Cup this weekend and I noticed that there is currently an exhibition round the corner from work highlighting my position on the football pitch (no not the subs bench).  As part of E.ON’s sponsorship of the FA Cup, it has commissioned a series of striking photos to celebrate the great unsung heroes of grassroots football – the humble goalkeeper.

The exhibition, entitled ‘Life Between the Sticks’ is being exhibited at the Getty Images Gallery in London between 4th-15th May.  Alongside the unsung heroes, renowned photojournalist Tom Stoddart will lead a number of professional and amateur photographers to create an exhibition depicting the life of a goalkeeper, where some of England’s most famous goalkeepers will be reflecting on their ‘life between the sticks’.

You can read more about the unsung heroes on E.ON’s Great Saves site by clicking here.
